Submit a Research Proposal
The Sierra Foothill Research & Extension Center (SFREC) is soliciting proposals for new research and extension projects. SFREC will continue to accept off-cycle proposals throughout the 2024-2025 year as long as resources are available to meet the needs of the project. The center provides research project access to a research herd of beef cattle as well as almost 6,000 acres of grassland, irrigated pasture and oak woodland to conducted research around beef cattle production, grazing management and natural resource management on California rangeland systems. On site staff provide operational support around cattle management, field equipment used to construct, maintain or run experiments as well as field support around data collection and sampling. Because of the large size of the center and ability to experimentally manipulate all aspects of rangeland ecosystems and management this facility provides a novel platform to test ideas around practices and processes that influence agricultural production and ecosystem function in these rangeland systems.
