Orchard

The Orchard located at the Sierra Foothill Research and Extension Center, seen from Scott Forbes Rd. is a Demonstration Orchard managed by the UC Staff and administered through the UC Cooperative Extension, Master Gardner Program located in Yuba City.

The Demonstration Orchard is used to assist in learning about the types of soils, water management as well as Pesticide uses such as not applying or using organic. Staff at the Center are following the Program's model that was being used under the UCC Master Gardner's/UC Davis IPM, in the interim.

The objective of the Orchard is for the UC Extension Offices to provide workshops and tours through the Master Gardner and the Master Food Preservers that will help teach our local Community how to plant and maintain a Backyard Fruit/Nut Orchard as well as best Food Practices.

If anyone is interested in signing up to volunteer with Yuba/Sutter Master Gardner Program, and participate in Fruit/Nut Demonstration Orchard workshops at the Sierra Foothill REC, please contact their office in Yuba City.
