The Center at Sierra Health Foundation has provided funding for the University of California Cooperative Extension Sutter-Yuba to hold a Summer Day Camp “AgVenture” in Yuba City for underserved youth. Day Camp is open to youth ages 6 to 12 and will run from 07/05/2023 – 07/28/2023 from 8am – 5pm. Each week has its own unique theme related to agriculture presented by 4-H positive youth development, nutrition provided by CalFresh Healthy Living, and gardening brought to us by Master Gardeners.
- Week 1 theme is Interesting Insects and will include guest speakers, a bug hunting field trip, hands-on learning, and more!
- Week 2 theme is Food and Farms and will be introducing healthy nutritious meals and proper food prepping along with field trips, farm visits, guest speakers and other hands-on learning activities.
- Week 3 theme is Woods and Water themed with field trips to Sierra Foothills Research and Extension Center, 4-H Water Wizards’ activities, guest speakers, and more.
- Week 4 theme is Awesome Animals themed with a field trip to a local dairy, guest speakers, sheep shearing demonstrations, and chick hatching!
Job Description:
Incumbents organize, implement and conduct recreational programs, activities and services for a day or residential facility in a recreational establishment, or organized camp.
Incumbents provide instruction in contact sports, ball games, water sports, track and field activities, court games, seasonal sports, martial arts, arts and crafts, camping, hiking, nutrition, health and related nature and cultural studies, and may also perform in dramatic or musical events.
Incumbents perform general maintenance duties related to sanitation of camp grounds, cafeteria hygiene, cabin safety and of assigned equipment.
This is a limited term appointment, 06/01/2023 – 08/04/2023, and includes training period prior to July Camp and debriefing after.
Pay Rate – By Agreement Daily Rate: $160.00/daily/$800.00/weekly
