The California Naturalist Program Regional Community Educator and Partner Coordinator (CES 2) for the Northern California Bay Area Capitol Corridor region represents the California Naturalist program including both the California Naturalist and the Climate Stewards course. This position will serve partners in multiple counties in Northern California, but will be based out of Placer County.
The regional coordinator (incumbent) provides backbone support to local partner organizations delivering either or both the California Naturalist and Climate Stewards courses and advances the larger strategic objectives of the California Naturalist Program. This work typically includes several responsibilities: 1) build new partnerships with local organizations; 2) co-conduct instructor training workshops; 3) support course co-design, content development, and delivery; 4) administer, monitor and evaluate partner course implementation and overall program implementation; 5) foster a community of practice through networking, communications (including social media), and convenings; and 6) implement special projects (e.g., grants and contracts) that advance the program's strategic objectives.
Under general supervision, incumbent will be responsible for the coordination, management, and delivery of education to community members through a combination of direct education and volunteer/partner management/engagement, and be responsible for developing new program partners and collaborators to extend educational programming. This includes identification, selection, orientation, training, utilization, recognition, evaluation of volunteer/partner extenders. Position will guide program and activity in accordance with statewide program mission, provide information and resources, collect and compile enrollment data, participate and report on evaluation efforts, and write reports in compliance with funding requirements. The Community Education Specialist 2 ensures compliance with statewide program policies and procedures, including fiscal accountabilities.
The California Naturalist Program Regional Community Educator and Partner Coordinator (CES 2) works under the general supervision of the program director and the Climate Stewards Academic Coordinator to ensure new partnerships and courses advance the goals of the program. In addition to serving external local partner organizations, the CES 2 also works to build relationships within UC ANR to increase opportunities for collaboration and coordination, which may involve supporting ANR Units that may engage in direct delivery of California Naturalist Program courses.
This position is based in Placer County but will include work in Davis, CA. at least two days per week.
This position is a career appointment that is 100% fixed.
Pay Scale: $21.07/hour to $28.02/hour
This position will promote, in all ways consistent with the other responsibilities of the position, accomplishment of the Affirmative Action goals established by the Division.
